Nature-inspired homewares brand The Curious Department takes home the “Engaging Print” gong in the Top Drawer S/S 18 PaperAwards, sponsored by GF Smith!

The Curious Department first launched into stationery in September, which included insect-decorated golden notebooks and delicately coloured flora and fauna gold foil greeting cards. Featuring their signature Art Deco inspired designs from their Metamorphosis and Elemental collections, the range now boasts its first ever award.

As part of Top Drawer S/S 18, the PaperAwards featured a panel of industry experts from Heals, Harrods, West Elm and Selfridges, major influencers, as well as a public vote, to select the best in emerging stationery, including the categories recognising 'Engaging Print', 'Emotive Design' and 'Engaging Use of Colour'.

Chris McShane, co-founder of The Curious Department says "To have only launched our stationery collection 6 months ago and to be awarded a prize by esteemed industry insiders is beyond amazing! We're so grateful for everyone who voted and and we're so happy to have our designs recognised as 'Engaging Print'".

More about The Curious Department:
Launched late 2016, The Curious Department is the London-based homewares brand and design studio founded by Chris McShane and Ross Taylor. Their first collection, 'Metamorphosis', examines the underestimated beauty of nature, turning bugs and insects into dazzling designs, patterns and products for the home. In Sepetmber 2017, they soon followed up with a second collection 'Elemental', exploring the relationship between flora and fauna, using repeated patterns representing the elements: earth, air fire and water.

From limited edition gold prints, to butterfly cushions and insect-adorn fine bone china, through to hand mounted ethical butterfly taxidermy, The Curious Department is a fitting tribute to the latest interior trends, as well as the Victorian fascination with entomology,  adding in a few splashes of Art Deco opulence for good measure. All products are designed by them and made in the UK.

With everyone in the interiors world buzzing over the latest insects trend, The Curious Department is the perfect emerging brand to feature in any upcoming editorials and trend forecasting pieces.
